It can undergo ring‑opening reactions with various compounds such as amines, anhydrides, and phenols, introducing polysiloxane chains into organic polymers. This endows resins with excellent hand feel, antifouling, anti-adhesion, and hydrophobicity, as well as weather resistance and chemical resistance. It is widely used in the paint, ink, plastic, rubber, textile and leather industries.
